Where Will Your Compass Take You?

QuiltCon 2015

Spent three days at QuiltCon with my Mom and had a great time!  After attending the first QuiltCon in 2013, we were not surprised to see all the growth in both the quilt show and the vendors.  Together we attended over a half dozen lectures on topics from color theory and art history to modern traditionalism in quilting and the changing social media marketing landscape.  We also had the opportunity to attend the keynote lecture by some of the ladies of Gee's Bend (see further below).  Here are a few of the quilts that caught our eye.

My favorite Gee's Bend quilt and the Gee's Bend ladies singing some gospel.

The trip to Austin would not be complete without a few side trips.  We spent part of a day in the South Congress area perusing all the cute shops and restaurants.  One day we ventured out to an awesome food truck for some amazing barbecue.  And on our last day we went quilt shop hunting in the Austin area and got to see some some beautiful country and fun shops.
